Beautiful large lakehouse with a huge yard and playground for the kids. The lake was very quiet and peaceful. Perfect setting for our family of 16 with an 18 month up to an 87 year old.
We stayed at this house. It was great for our two families. Comfortable couches and lots of dining space. Lots of outdoor seating too. The kids played in the backyard every day and really enjoyed the open space to play catch and the playset. Boating with the canoes were fun too and a night with the fire pit with smores.
This home is beautiful and spacious. We had plenty of room for our family group of 15. There is a large yard that is great for playing games and our grandchildren loved the play equipment. We rented a pontoon so were able to take it out for fishing (fishing was great the week we were there). We also used it for swimming farther out in the lake since there are quite a few weeds on the lake bottom though there is an area right by the dock that is weed free. Our adult children enjoyed the kayaks and took them out every day. We spent many hours on the big deck and also around the fire pit. I gave four stars instead of five because some of us were uncomfortable with the many signs in the home reminding us of proper behavior, the outdoor signs reminding us the grounds were under surveillance, and at times the water was quite orange.
The property is fantastic. Met our family needs with kids from ages 12 down to age 4.
This is a large, clean house great for big family gatherings. We had 14 people and had plenty of space to spread out and ample eating space for meals together. There is a very large lawn for games and sports, and the available kayaks and dock (we rented a pontoon) definitely added to the fun. The entry area of the lake is nicely tarped underneath the sand, so you don't need to wade into weeds or squishy sand to get on your floaties. The neighborhood and lake overall are very quiet and peaceful. One thing to note is that the City came to treat the lake one day, and they did not allow swimming afterwards for 24 hours, so we did lose one day of water activities. This is obviously not in the owner's control, but if you do plan on renting a boat for water sports it would be a good idea to check with the owner a week or so before to see if they had any notifications of treatments so that you can plan accordingly on your boat rental. The house itself could use some bedding upgrades and some improvement in the water pressure (If a person was showering and someone flushed/turned on the faucet/used another shower the flow basically turned to a trickle. So only one person can shower at a time), but overall it's a great place to stay and we had a blast here.
We visited Michigan with 4 other couples and our kids, 1 which lives in Michigan and 2 who are from Michigan. We use this as a way to get together. This house was very nice, clean, large yard, the kids loved the playgrounds, and the older kids and adults loved kayaking on the lake. The hayloft ice cream parlor was delicious, we went there 2 times during our stay. Would definitely stay at this house again.
The Lake of the Woods property we rented was perfect for our group of 14. We had 5 adults and 9 kids. The house itself is a great layout for multiple families with kids and young children. The babies napped well and slept well the whole week! The bigger kids loved the kayaks and paddle boat, beach nearby, and fishing off the pier. The adults enjoyed a week of catching up with each other over cocktails and yummy home cooked meals while watching our kids make memories together. The swingsets were awesome for our group, too. The kid spent many hours playing outside on the playground area and rolling down the hill. The kitchen was stocked with every appliance you can think of. We loved cooking delicious meals together. Leslie was always very responsive and very easy to work with. The lake itself was a very quiet lake which was perfect for our group of young children learning how to kayak. We all really enjoyed our stay.
This house is perfect for gathering with extended family. Its big enough to hang out with the entire group to play table games or build a puzzle, plus with the open floor plan you can still be a part of the group while preparing meals in the kitchen. The second refrigerator came in handy for water bottles and bags of ice. House location was perfect for us from Chicago suburbs. Since it was close enough, those that couldn't stay entire week would join us on the weekends. Our group enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, fishing and especially being all together under one roof thanks to the great accommodations at Lake of the Woods Retreat house! Thank you Leslie for always being accessible and a pleasure to work with and especially for sharing your beautiful home with us!
This was a fantastic house for our family, ages 2 to 88! The home has so many awesome features. Our family enjoyed the giant yard, playset, and indoor seating. The outdoor deck is amazing with plenty of seating for all. The kitchen was even more amazing in person than described! views of the lake, too. Great accommodations, the house was just as promised. The details and expectations are very clearly set out and that was so helpful. Leslie was easy to communicate with and a pleasure to work with. We will be back! :-)
My family and i had a great time staying at this house. We had plenty of space for the 6 couples. The view was expectacular! It was equipped with almost everything you might need for all ages. The owner was very friendly and responsive to all my questions and very accommodating. The decor was very nice. I would highly recommend it and would love to stay at this location in the near future since it was very close to Chicago. 👍🏼👍🏼
